Scaling Digital Health Innovation in Asia

Digital Health is a sector poised for growth in Asia, especially ASEAN. According to consultancy firm Solidiance, healthcare spending in ASEAN is expected to increase from US$420 billion in 2017 to US$740 billion by 2025. Growth drivers include an ageing population, a burgeoning middle class with rising incomes, underdeveloped healthcare infrastructure as well as growing prevalence of chronic diseases. Singapore, one of the world’s leading healthcare and tech hubs and Asia-Pacific’s 3rd largest digital health ecosystem, is fast becoming the gateway to the region’s rapidly growing digital healthcare market.

In this report, the Singapore Economic Development Board partnered ACCESS Health International to explore the strategies and pathways that digital health innovators have successfully used to scale from Singapore into the region. Drawing on interviews with 26 leading digital health innovation suppliers, demand drivers, and ecosystem enablers, the report highlights the considerations for companies to engage in needs identification, proof-of-concept development, commercial rollout and adoption at scale. The report also includes 3 case studies of companies that have recognised and successfully dealt with the challenges of scaling regionally.
