With the increasingly VUCA global operating environment and sustainability trend, companies are taking measures to secure ‘just-in-case’ supply chains, and ensuring that supply chains keep pace with sustainability transformation plans.
Supply chain management (SCM) job scopes are therefore also evolving. This was validated by an industry survey that Gartner developed with EDB in 2023, which revealed that close to 50% of surveyed business leaders with supply chain operations in Asia Pacific identify planning as the top area in need of upskilling and retraining.
As an extension of the Supply Chain Management Jobs Transformation Map (SCM JTM) launched on 10 July 2023, the SCM Skills Plan offers a deeper dive into the key tasks, apps & tools, and skills required for Planning, and Sourcing & Procurement (S&P) job roles.
The SCM Skills Plan is a one-stop reference document which:
- Guides training providers in curriculum development by identifying gaps between the available course offerings and industry needs;
- Provides information on the training support that enterprises can tap on to enhance their in-house SCM training programmes; and
- Provides individuals with information to upskill and reskill to take on goods jobs in SCM.
