The company opened its Asia Pacific regional headquarters here in May 2016, marking the continuation of an enduring partnership with Singapore. The headquarters houses the MedTech company’s Asia Pacific Service and Repair Centre of Excellence (CoE), which supports Medtronic operations across 80 locations in the Asia Pacific.
The CoE in Singapore will develop advanced data analytics capabilities aimed at generating new business models such as fleet management service, and predictive solutions such as failure prediction to end-customers. Operational efficiency of the service and repair functions can also be enhanced through effective cost management and pricing optimisation.
Medtronic also has its global Centre of Excellence (CoE) for business model innovation in Singapore to design, test and scale new business models for the rapidly growing developing markets across Asia.
The Centre develops new commercial models to systematically address market growth barriers. One example is the Medtronic "Healthy Heart For All" program. The program works with more than 120 facilities across more than 22 cities in India to remove barriers to patient access to heart rhythm and vascular treatments. To date, more than 1,200 physicians have been trained, 147,000 patients have been screened, and more than 14,000 of these patients have received treatment.
Medtronic’s strategic direction towards value-based healthcare is in line with Singapore’s integrated care approach, which is to sustain its objective of providing affordable healthcare with better outcomes, and finding ways to tackle the challenges of an ageing population and rising chronic diseases.
