That aside, what have kept her here for so long are the wealth of opportunities and growth potential the country offers.
“Asia is an emerging global power. Not only is Singapore a gateway to the region, it is also the perfect embodiment of vibrancy and innovation. When people think of Asia, what they’re really thinking of is Singapore.”
Pantharee was a management trainee at Unilever Thailand in 2009 when she was offered a regional manager’s position at the consumer goods giant’s headquarters in Singapore.
For someone who always wanted to build a professional career on the global stage, moving to Singapore fitted her long-term goals.
The fact that many of the world’s largest companies had a key presence in the Republic gave her multiple opportunities to advance her career, regardless of which industry she chose.
From established giants to tech upstarts, Singapore’s global connectivity meant that the options were endless. She left Unilever in 2018 to join Netflix.
“Singapore is a great place to build an international career because of its reputation as a regional hub. You have some of the biggest names from across the globe setting up their offices here so I always knew that coming to Singapore was the right step,” Pantharee said.
